RCS: At the beginning of the summer of 2014 you decided to embark on a concept of doing podcasts with people who work at RCS. What was the motivation behind that?
One day in the RCS Break room several of us were sharing some great radio stories. I thought “Wow, it’s a shame everyone can’t hear these! It would make great radio, for radio people.” Then I got to thinking. Podcasts are today’s long form radio shows. I’m a huge fan myself, listening regularly to over two dozen different podcasts, so I decided to just do it and work my way around the building asking people to tell me about their days “in the biz”. The paths that they took to get into a technology company are more than amazing.
RCS: Is there some common thread among the people you’ve interviewed so far?
The amazing thing is that radio has touched every RCS employee is some way. From the guy who was the “Kasey Kasem” of Argentina to the one who did a local “wheel of fortune”-type TV show. From the beginning we have been, and still are, a radio company; made of radio people.
RCS: Why did you decide to do a podcast, rather than video?
Podcasts allow you to hear these fascinating stories while commuting in the car, while jogging, while doing anything really. You also listen to what you want, when you want, and require nothing more than the smartphone you already have in your pocket. Podcasts are an extension of the radio experience.
RCS: Do the RCS INSIDER podcasts reveal anything new about the products and services the company offers?
Since many of the podcast guests are intimately involved with the creation of our products, you will often learn fascinating tidbits about a product or feature you wouldn’t have otherwise known. You also hear the passion that each person has for their job and how proud they are of their achievements. I have worked at RCS for 17+ years and have still learned something new in practically every episode!
RCS: How can someone suggest an idea for a future INSIDER podcast?
Send an email to RCSInsider@rcsworks.com. We would love to hear from you!
RCS: Where can fans and clients find them?
You can listen right off the RCS website, but the easiest way is to subscribe in iTunes. Then every episode will be automatically delivered to your device as it is released without having to lift a finger. Click here for the RCS Podcast page.
