Top-rated station wins with innovative programming.
Bucharest is perhaps best known as the capital and economic center of Romania. It is also known for its iconic Palace of Parliament and thriving nightlife in the historic Lipscani district. Besides all that, Bucharest has become a hotspot for radio in Eastern Europe. Here we will find the main studios of Radio Zu, an innovative broadcaster who has made RCS part of its strategy for success.
The station launched in 2008, and preceded its debut with a massive guerrilla advertising and billboard campaign in Bucharest with the graffiti, “Who is ZU?” Radio ZU managed to become, in a short time, one of most highly rated contemporary hit music radio stations, eventually developing the #1 national radio program, broadcast via 33 local frequencies throughout the country. Radio ZU is co-located with sister station, Romantic FM, which has a soft AC format.
Their initial contact with RCS came in the spring of 2018 via Dumitru Paunescu, a broadcast consultant who knew of it through previous radio projects. Initially, Radio Zu was interested in Zetta, but after the RCS sales presentation, management wanted to know more about Aquira for traffic as well. The RCS field service team was able to devise a solution that allowed them to keep their existing music scheduling software, and integrate it with Zetta. Romantic FM runs with Zetta, GSelector and Aquira.
Radio ZU belongs to the Intact Media Group, which also owns TV Romania Live and several Newspapers in Romania. The station’s format is dance-oriented Contemporary Hit Radio with a target audience of 14-29 year-olds. The station has a highly successful morning show, Mace and the Morning ZU.
